Embracing Uncertainty: The Unforeseen Journey of Trading Executive Jobs for Entrepreneurship and Family Time in 2023
Just when you think you have life figured out, it laughs in your face.
(Kim Wrapped 2023 edition)
You’ve made all your plans.
And you think you know where you’re going.
But one thing (or ten things) turns you way off course.
That was 2023 for our family.
My husband and I both left our exec jobs.
We turned in our 401ks, salaries, and bonuses and took a risk.
And why not, we just had our third child 🙃
We were both looking for more from our careers.
The opportunity to own our businesses, our time, and our freedom.
Was it easy?
Hell no.
Was it the right time?
I don’t know. Is there ever a right time?
Chris started consulting with startups.
Perfect for the guy that loves to build, take risks, and wear all the hats.
And I started working with companies to improve their leadership teams.
I knew there was a need for better leadership in the workforce.
But It wasn’t until I started to meet more and more people that I realized how dire it was.
And that’s helped drive me as I write content, meet new people, build my website, newsletter, and my first online course. (ask me for an early preview)
But the best part of having my own business?
The time I get to give to my family ❤️
I’m room mom for my son’s Kinder class.
I’m the weekly computer lab volunteer for my 3rd grader’s class.
And I’m not missing any baby milestones for my daughter.
She’s in daycare so I can work, but it’s on my schedule.
So as we hit the holidays and the end of the year I’m here reflecting on the challenges and incredible opportunities I’ve had in 2023.
Thank you to anyone who’s been a part and wished me well.
And to everyone, I hope you have a wonderful holiday and happy new year! 🌲 🎁 🎆
